A compact car can be a practical option for a couple or solo traveler with a moderate amount of luggage and an itinerary that mainly follows paved roads. However, if your accommodation or activities involve more demanding rural access roads, a 4×4 may be a better choice.

With ten days, you gain something shorter trips do not offer: more flexibility in your schedule. You can spend additional nights in one area, add a third or fourth destination, and still include days when you do not need to make long drives.
At that point, the car becomes more than just a way to travel between hotels. It becomes a tool that gives you greater freedom throughout your trip.
For a trip of this length, seven to ten rental days is a good starting point. The exact number depends mainly on what you plan to do at the beginning and end of your vacation. If you need independence during the different stages of your itinerary and will also need the vehicle to return to the airport, keeping it for all ten days can help avoid unnecessary logistical interruptions.
Five Questions to Help You Decide How Many Days You Need a Car
Before confirming your reservation, consider these five factors together: how many regions you will visit, how many times you will change hotels, how many activities require transportation, what you plan to do on your first and last days, and where you will pick up and return the vehicle.
If you are visiting only one region and staying there for most of your vacation, you may not need to maximize the number of rental days.
