Adventures on land

Suppose you decide to go on a hike in Costa Rica. In that case, it is possible to truly get in touch with nature while discovering the impressive array of natural parks and conservation areas. If you want to step up the speed just a ‘little bit’, you can choose a mountain biking expedition; or if you are feeling particularly adventurous, there are mysterious subterranean caves to discover.

If you are not an experienced hiker, don’t worry, there are places suited for everyone. Explore the towns, dense forests and beaches and marvel at nature in one of the national parks.  Arenal Volcano, Rincón de la Vieja and Monteverde National Park are among the most incredible places to take a walk.

Adventures from the canopy

Costa Rica has numerous Rain and Cloud forests; some of them have an array of suspension bridges from which you can discover nature from a new vantage point and appreciate the brimming life in the treetops.

One of the most famous adventure activities in Costa Rica is ziplining or canopy; feel the wind’s rush while you are being propelled from tree to tree; if you take this journey, you might have to cross rivers and canyons.

To discover more of the unique Costa Rican landscapes, you can easily rent a car and drive to your next destination whenever you feel ready.

Adventures in water

The choice is yours, a quiet canoe trip to enjoy the landscape and animals in the lush forest or an adrenaline-filled rafting tour? Pick between a journey in a river, canal, lake or wetland; they are all surrounded by a beautiful environment.

While kayaking on the coast of the country, you can have the opportunity to look at the beaches from a new vantage point, enjoy the quiet movement of the waves and relax under the sun. The constant Costa Rican forests make a stunning picture.  Tortuguero and Drake Bay are genuinely astonishing.

The underwater Costa Rican world is a true marvel. You can see whale sharks, whitetip reef sharks, manta rays, and schools of colorful fish framed by beautiful coral formations; take your pick between a snorkel or a deep-sea diving adventure.

A great way to finish a day full of adventures is to enjoy a relaxing sunset in the beach. Some of the most popular beach areas in Costa Rica are Manuel Antonio, Tamarindo, Puerto Viejo and Playa Samara.

Costa Rica is also a country focused on sustainability, where this is not only a concept but a way of life; the government aims to be the first carbon-neutral country in the world by 2021.

While planning your trip, be sure to book a car to discover the Costa Rican wonders at your own pace.
